TIME FOR SCHOOL: We start school on August 25th. Ashton is in 6th grade, Sidney in 4th grade and Blake in Kindergarten.

UPDATE: We had a wonderful State 4-H Horse Show! This was Ashton's third year to compete, and Sidney was finally an official 4-H member, which enabled her to go. Both girls qualified at the District Horse Show in Vernon in June. The unique thing about District & State is there are no age groups. Kids compete against each other from 9 to18 years of age. But that didn't stop the girls!

At District, they TIED for the All Around Judged Horseman! In 4 tie breakers, they remained tied, and were named Co-Champions! It's amazing that a 9 year old and an 11 year old accomplished this feat, competing against 18 year olds all day! We were thrilled!

At State, we were just as excited!!!! There were 150-200 exhibitors in each class. Here's how they did....

Sidney

Semi-finalist in Showmanship, missed the Finals by 1 slot, and finished 23rd overall!

Had several great runs in her other classes of Horsemanship, Pleasure, Stock Horse Trail
Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunter Showmanship and Team Penning

Ashton

Finalist in Showmanship, finished 20th overall

Finalist in Reining, finished 11th overall

Finalist in Horsemanship, finished 11th overall

6th place Aged Mares

We were so excited for their success! Ashton also competed in
Working Cow Horse, Team Penning and Stock Horse Trail

Blake spent his days practicing with the roping dummy. He's one of the older boy's favorites to head the dummy while they heel.
He keeps asking when he will be old enough to rope at State....
